New York State Hunter Safety Training Classes
for firearms only!

2022 Hunter Safety Schedule

Enrollment is on first come, first served basis.

Classes will be held on the following dates:

Class #1: Saturday, April 30th from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the class session
Breakfast items will be available starting at 7:30 AM


Successful completion of this program is required in order to obtain a New York State hunting license.
STUDENTS MUST BRING THEIR COMPLETED HOMEWORK (form acquired at registration) TO CLASS.
There is no fee for this program. Donations are optional.

Participants must attend all sessions of their class.
All classes are held at the Pleasant Valley Trout & Game Club located on Salt Point Turnpike.

It is strongly recommended that children wait until they are 12 before taking the course.
We do allow guests (parents) to attend all sessions and it's encouraged for the younger aged children.

To get a head start on successful completion of the hunter safety course we recommend that students,
especially those new to hunting and hunter safety, review the information in the link below prior to their scheduled class.

    • Written Test (50 multiple choice questions). 84% or higher required to pass course
